Georeferencing Checklist
Below is a table monitoring HerpNET's georeferencing progress. The
table includes a list of geopolitical divisions along with
the number of localities to be georeferenced in each division, the
institution and date the division was claimed and the
georeferencing status of each division. Geographical regions
already claimed are highlighted in green. When making claims, please follow the HerpNET Georeferencing Steps.
Counts include those localities for which the higher geography is in
question. Example:
1) "Ecuador*" is entered into the Higher Geography search field in the Gazetteer. Those
localities with "Ecuador?" as country will also be returned.
2) In cases were the locality indicates more than one possible higher
geography value, the locality will be returned when each of the
possibilities is queried for. So if the Country is "Ecuador/Peru" for
a specific locality, this locality will be returned when one
searches for "Ecuador" or for "Peru". These ambiguous localities are
counted as being part of all possible higher geography
fields. Note that all country names listed follow the current ISO standard short country names in English, as much as possible.
